Makoto Ueda

Makoto Ueda was born in 1973 in Shizuoka, Japan. He was awarded first prize at the 15th Edition of “The Choice” Competition in Illustration. His picturebook “Māgaretto to kurisumasu no okurimono” (Margaret and the Christmas Present) published by Akane Shobo was awarded the Japan Picture Book Prize. Other titles are “Majo no Deijī “ (Daisy the Witch) published by Nora Shoten and “Sketchbook” published by Goburin Shobo. He has illustrated “Ekaki no Ueda-san” (Mr.Ueda the Painter) written by Shinji Ishii and “Kuma no Atarimae” (The Bear Atarimae) written by Naoko Uwozumi and many other books. Makoto Ueda is well known for his cover illustrations for popular authors such as Kaori Ekuni and Shinji Ishii. He also designs material for advertisement, cd jackets and is also active as a musician.
