Martin Vančo (* 13. 2. 1970 Přerov, Czech Republic) studied Applied Information at Faculty of Material Science and Technology of Slovak University of Technology in Trnava (1988 – 1993) and Archaeology and Art History at Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (1991 – 1996). He followed post-graduate study at Department of Art History at Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava and graduated with PhD thesis devoted to Central Great Moravian Buildings in 2001. He started his work as specialist in Slovak National Gallery (1996 – 2001). Later worked at the Institute of Art History at Slovak Academy of Sciences (2001 – 2009) where administered several functions such as Editor Staff of Journal ARS, Research Secretary, Deputy Director and Director (2005). During 2006 – 2007 was Executive Director of engineering factory Chemstroj in Strážske. Since 2007 is Head of Postal Philatelic Service and since 2008 also Deputy Director of Postal Museum of Slovak Post. He deals with Pre-romanesque Art, modern Slovak graphics art and contemporary visual design of postage stamps.
