Gitte Spee

Gitte Spee was born in 1950 in Surabaya, Indonesia . When she was eleven years old, her parents decided to move to the Netherlands. She still lives there in a village near Amsterdam. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts ‘Gerrit Rietveld’, she started her career as an illustrator by illustrating books written by other authors. But now she also writes her own storybooks. Gitte has also done a post graduate course at the St. Martin’s School of Art in London and an animation course at the Royal College of Art in London. Her books have been published in several countries such as Sweden, Spain, Japan, Korea, USA, France and Germany. There are Apps of her work available in the App Store in several languages.

Guido van Genechten

Guido van Genechten was born in 1957 in Mol, Belgium. He studied drawing and painting, graphics and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mol. For many years he worked in the graphic industry. Now he works as a fulltime illustrator of children’s books. In 1998 he won the international Illustrator’s Award City of Hasselt with his picture book “Rikki”. This prize was the beginning of his international career as a children’s book illustrator. Since that moment he has created many best- selling books and received several awards. In 2007 he was the winner of the Reader’s Digest Award for Best Children’s Book Illustrator and his book “Little Kangaroo” was declared ‘Best Picture Book of the Year 2007’.

Haremi Shinohara

Haremi Shinohara was born in Kanagawa, Japan. Her main technique is woodcut colored with water color. In the years 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, her works were selected at the Illustrators Exhibition (Bologna Children's Book Fair). She was also selected for Figures Futur 2000 of the Salon du livre et de la presse Jeunesse Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) in France.

Harriët van Reek

Harriët van Reek was born in 1957 in the southern Dutch city
of Leiden and studied fine art in The Hague and Amsterdam. She now works as an artist and makes children books, videos, animation theatre-performance while teaching Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zwolle. Harriët won the Golden Pencil Award for her first book 'The Adventures of Lena lena” in 1987,
and the Silver Brush Award in 2002 for “Bokje”.

Igor Piačka

Igor Piačka was born in 1962 in Třebíč, Czech Republic. After studying graphic art and illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (prof.
A. Brunovský), he continued with his studies at the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts in Brussels. He was Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, heading a Figural Drawing course. Igor creates paintings, graphic arts, drawings and illustrations. Up till now he has realized more than fifty individual exhibits and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. He has won approximately thirty awards in Slovakia and abroad for Fine Arts.
